She Got the Good Side of Life

She got the good side of life

She was living in a lower middle class family when she was a kid

But she was going to an upper middle class school

Sure it wasn’t easy

People looked down on her, it’s becoming a habit

Just because she didn’t — her family didn’t have a car

She didn’t have things that others have

Silly, isn’t it?

She felt like people only appreciate her brain

However it shaped her to be someone who doesn’t look down on people

Especially based on what they were born with

She got the good side of life

When she was a little older

An almost young adult, people say

Still fresh in her mind, her mom needed to borrow money for her tuition fee

Her mom thinks education is the most important thing, well it is one

But those people who are supposed to care

Were telling her to put aside education

However it shaped her to be someone who promises herself to help people she supposed to help

Because she was once there too

And she knows how sucks it feels like

She got the good side of life

She knows she doesn’t have a golden pass to have things she wants

She knows she needs to work harder than others to experience some things

And she did, she still does

Not having a golden pass somehow makes her stronger

And she’s able to do things she once thought she won’t be able to

She got the good side of life

People say we need to listen to parents’ word

“They know what’s best for you”

“They are the wisest”

“They love you the most”

But it confused her

Because her parents are just like her

They are not emotionally stable

They often change their mind and decisions

They talk about things they don’t like

They make mistakes

They cry because of their mistakes

They throw tantrums when they are angry

“Oh, my parents are human too,” she thinks

And little did she know that’s one of the most important milestones in her life — seeing her parents as humans.

She got the good side of life

She once loved someone so much

He introduced her to many things she hadn’t discovered before

They were not even in a relationship

But she knew there’s no way they can be together for a long time

So she was telling him goodbye

He was angry, she remembered

Telling her he has given her his all

And he should never do that to anyone anymore

Even though she didn’t understand what did he mean by “his all”; she felt a little guilty, didn’t she?

But not so long after that

He told her he never had any real feelings for her

Yeah, that feelings he used to call by love

It was just his illusion of love, he said

She doesn’t even understand why he needed to explain

Did she get hurt?

I think she might. But is it still important?

However it helped her to differentiate who’s the right one or not

She said to me,

“It taught me a lesson to see what’s really important in finding a partner

That it’s not about his look or his achievement or his brain

Those are what he has for himself, not for you, baby girl

What matters is what he’s willing to do for you

Accepting you for what you really are, how many people could do that?

But I believe your partner needs to be one of those people.”

She got the good side of life

She told me she has forgiven

Because she understands people change, so does her

Well she isn’t really sure if they have changed or not

But she chooses to believe that they have changed to be better

So she can forgive more easily

However, she will never forget, won’t she?

Cause they are the ones who helped her to get the good side of life

Then she told me her last words as she packed her bag, preparing to leave

That she hopes you got the good side of life too.
